Join us for an in-depth look at the exciting changes happening for the Downtown Community Plan (also known as DTLA 2040)!

According to regional projections, by the year 2040, the downtown area will be adding approximately +125,000 people, +70,000 housing units, and +55,000 jobs; this Plan will strive to support and sustain the ongoing revitalization of Downtown, while thoughtfully accommodating this projected future growth.

Come learn about what the DTLA 2040 Plan is and what it isn't. Some topics we will be discussing include the following:
  • What are the roles of the planning department?
  • How will the Plan address housing issues?
  • What are the inherent challenges within the Plan (threat of lawsuits, etc.)?
  • What are the outstanding issues?
  • Where do we go from here?

Kate’s over thirty-year public and private sector career includes senior executive positions with developers, The Simon Property Group and The Kor Group; The Walt Disney Company, as head of California Government Relations; and as a DTLA-centric, CBRE retail broker; and LA City Council Legislative Aide. Kate also has a long, concurrent history of civic engagement. This includes service as a Board member of a homeless service provider, President of a DTLA Business Improvement District (BID), Planning Commissioner, and Chair/Co-Chair of several city and civic policy task forces. Most recently, Kate helmed her own Metro-LA land use, development, and public affairs consulting firm.  Kate’s passion for finding the “sweet spot” in deal making and consensus-building and devising policy solutions that work, has resulted in entitlement approvals of urban infill residential projects totaling 3,000 units; and contributed to passage of landmark LA City rental housing legislation, the California Infrastructure Bank and LA’s Adaptive Reuse Ordinance(s).
