UCREW: Navigating Through Careers in Commercial Real Estate

Interested in a career in commercial real estate?

USC x CREW LA's UCREW will be a panel style event that will introduce students to a wide variety of careers that can be explored within commercial real estate. There will be a panel of commercial real estate experts that all currently work in different sectors of commercial real estate. Through a moderator-led conversation, students will get to hear from all of the panelists and gain insights into each other their personal journeys in how they started their careers in commercial real estate and how they got to where they are today.

Andrew Bieker

Andrew’s journey into the world of CRE development started out in San Francisco after he had left a more traditional brokerage shop in downtown Los Angeles. In San Francisco, he worked for one of the largest land brokers specializing in urban infill residential developments. After several years, he moved back to his hometown of Los Angeles to help build the brand of the company he helped start while up in San Francisco; Ground Matrix. Moving away from the brokerage model, he started as the director of multifamily investments for a small-format apartment developer in Los Angeles. Andrew joined KPRS Construction in 2020 where has learned how builders analyze development projects to build better, on schedule and within the budget projected by developers.


Stephanie Gressley

Stephanie joined Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Recruitment in 2017 after working nearly a decade in the Fashion Industry. Since 2017 Stephanie has had extensive experience working in Recruitment and Broker Engagement at Marcus & Millichap, Colliers and now Savills US. Stephanie considers herself an ally and promotes D&I initiatives, is a Certified Diversity Recruiter and actively seeks female business leaders in CRE to connect with. Stephanie was involved with the launch of the Colliers Women's Network, the Working Parents ERG, and is a board member of CREW-LA acting has the Vice Chairman of the New Member Recruitment Committee. In 2021, she was recognized by TopRecruiter as one of the top 20 recruiters in the US


Sarah Hazani
Vice President
Fortress Investment Group

Sarah Hazani is a Vice President at Fortress Investment Group. In her current role, Sarah works in asset management, overseeing a portfolio of industrial properties located in Orange County and the San Fernando Valley. Sarah is also the 2023 President of CREW Los Angeles and has served on the Board of Directors for three years. Prior to joining Fortress, Sarah worked in the mall industry at the Queensland Investment Corporation where she had both asset management and development roles, specifically relating to the redevelopment of the South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach. Sarah kicked off her career at American Realty Advisors where she worked under the retail asset management group.  Sarah is a proud graduate of the University of Southern California

Amberly Washington
Director, Transactions Lead
CBRE

Amberly Washington has 15+ years of experience in commercial real estate, primarily focusing on leasing and acquisitions. Past work includes a wide range of asset types and corporate clients, including Frito-Lay, BNSF Railway, Kaiser Permanente, and Tenet Healthcare.

Currently, Amberly is a Transaction Management Director for tech and industrial clients at CBRE. She received her BBA from Texas A&M University and her MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Kayla is a Client Executive at Marsh McLennan Agency(MMA). In her role at MMA, Kayla works with her clients to structure comprehensive and customized corporate insurance programs for real estate investors, managers and developers across all asset classes. She insures portfolios, new development projects and investor/fund liability. She is apart of MMA’s national real estate team and works with carriers at a national and local level to strategize the best ways to design coverages and programs needed to service the real estate industry.
